I wanted to get some information out to you guys about our plans for rec league play for this spring/summer. Obviously, we’re dealing with a situation that is completely new for all of us. We are hopeful that all our leagues will be able to offer at least an abbreviated season for all of the rec players that were looking forward to playing baseball this spring. Here is what we are planning on our end for a tournament and all star tournament schedule.
We will still offer the Rec Team regional tournaments in all 4 regions. This is the tourney that is for regular season league teams.
Regions 1 and 2 will play June 8-13.
Regions 3 and 4 will play June 15-20.
The all star regional tournaments will be played July 9-13.
The all star state tournament will be played July 23-27.
Because 7th and 8th graders had little to no chance to play school ball this spring, we are going to offer a 7th/8th grade division for rec play as well. They will play by regular high school rules – 60/90 field; BBCOR bats. We will offer all of the same tournaments for the 7th/8th grade division.
Also, don’t forget that we will offer odd and even age groups for all stars 5-12 year olds.
We know that many of your towns also offer softball leagues for girls. We are opening up our rec softball all star state tournament to all towns that sanction BPA with us already to try to give the girls a chance to play a little more this summer as well. The rec softball state tourney will be played July 13-18 in Boaz. We will be getting more details posted about that event in the next few days.
Thanks so much for all you do for the kids in your communities! We hope that sports will be something that helps return some sense of normalcy for kids and adults alike as we move through the next few weeks. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need clarification on anything.
